ABOUT PROXIMITY SOCIAL HOUSE

Meet Dave Schearer, a Durham native. He has opened three other bars and restaurants in his time, mostly in the Clayton and Wendell areas, and at one point owned and operated three separate businesses. He also designed two restaurants for local owners in Clayton and Wendell.

Dave is a single father and an experienced owner/operator. With over 30+ years in hospitality, he is excited to bring Durham a bar with a standard of friendliness and service unlike most places. A handshake and a smile is always to be expected with Proximity Social House.

We will feature a great selection of craft beers — 14 taps with mostly local breweries — and a fantastic handcrafted cocktail list that changes with the seasons. We will also offer a small appetizer menu from Durham’s own Chef Lex.
